Pacific with Dowser The Pacific Dowser is a modular accessory which provides exact dimming control of high efficiency discharge light sources such as MSR, HSR, CDM which can be used in the Pacific range. Combining high light output and a colour temperature of 5600 - 6000K discharge light sources are a highly desirable addition to the lighting designer's tool kit. Until the advent of the Pacific ellipsoidal range and now, the Pacific Dowser, useage has been limited due to the high cost. The unique modular design and advanced technology of the Pacific brings this powerful tool with in the reach of most. The Pacific Dowser simply slots into the front of the Pacific lamp house and then the desired lens system is mounted onto the dowser. As the dowser is mounted 'within' the luminaire other accessories such as colour scrollers and animation wheels can be fitted to the front of the luminaire. Use of pattern rotators is unaffected. The visually even fade is achieved by graduated photo etched glass dowser blades which are driven across the light beam by stepper motors. Performance - Response - Black out - < 0.5 sec. Max. fade duration is defined by the Control Console.
- Light Output - A reinforcing lens in the dowser reshapes the light beam into the Pacific lens system of your choice. Output is therefore unaffected and as published by Selecon for the appropriate light sources - 575w MSR/2, MSR Hot Restrike, MSD and the 70 and 150w CDM / CMH type lamps.
This applies to all Pacific lens systems ( 5.5 - 13, 12-28, Fixed 20,20,40, 50 and 90 degrees) other than the Pacific 23 - 50 which requires a different rear lens to be fitted into the lens tube to achieve optimal performance (sold separately - 19PACRLDOW2350 Control - DMX 512
- Connectors - Neutrik 5 pin XLR type
- LED indicators - Red (Mains power indicator) Green (DMX signal)
- User selectable DMX termination switch
Mains Power - Two Dowser models are available
100 - 120v 220 - 240v The Dowser is supplied with a 1m (3 ft) long cable terminated in a Powercon connector. All Selecon MSR Electronic Power Supplies shipped after September 02 are fitted with a matching Powercon socket to provide the mains supply to the Dowser. Travel Lock - To prevent damage to the dowser blades during travel there is a mechanical screw lock located on the underside of the unit. Attempted operation with the lock on will not damage the Dowser.
Use of COLOUR FILTERS with the Pacific MSR & Dowser ThePacific MSR range with the new Dowser accessory is quickly becoming a favourite, delivering high light output in a quality profile beam. The output of the Pacific MSR is VERY efficient, comparing favourably to that from a 2.5kw MSR profile from other manufacturers. The Pacific is also a very compact sized luminaire. All of this means that the operation of colour filters and colour scrollers has to be managed carefully. To ensure useful life colour extenders may have to added to the front of the lens tube, below are notes for each Pacific optical system for your guidance. Please note actual life will depend on the type of filter you use, colour, dowser intensity setting and the lamp peak / flat distribution. We strongly recommend that the lamp distribution is adjusted to a flat setting to ensure best filter life. The secondary energy focus which must be avoided if the filter is to survive depends on the beam angle, for Zoomspots this position therefore varies. Our suggestions provide a position that will avoid this damaging secondary focus for the specified zoom range. Selecon does not manufacture tube extenders. Companies such as City Theatrical have an extensive range. - PAC 5.5 - 13
