Pacific 80v Power System

Pacific 80v Power System

Pacific 80v Power System

The launch of the Pacific 80V Power System represents a further step in the continuous challenge to develop better solutions for the entertainment lighting industry.

Combining a highly desirable light quality with significant energy savings provides an important new tool for our lighting designers while contributing to reducing the energy demands the industry places on our planet.

The 80v 1200w Pacific introduces the advantages of lower voltage lamp technology.  An intense beam of ‘pure’ white light with the power to cut through the stage picture for dramatic highlights, render saturated colours, or to deliver on those very long throws.

With their low cost, acceptable colour temperature and ease of control, tungsten filament lamps are the principal light source for the performing stage.  The disadvantages are inefficiency (typically 28 lumens per watt, compared to 90+ for some discharge lamps); resultant heat and increased air conditioning loads, and poor energy generation in the blue-green end of the visible spectrum.  The advantages of low voltage lamps, increased efficiency, and higher colour temperature are well proven and extensively used, for example the MR16 range of architectural display lamps.

Working with the world's leading lamp manufacturer's Selecon has pioneered the development of optimised current lamps for entertainment lighting. Electronic power supplies have made possible the use of the theoretical most efficient voltage for a desired wattage lamp.  The result is a new lower voltage light source for the Pacific, an 80v 1200w lamp which delivers onto the stage as much light as a traditional 2.0/2.5kw luminaire

The advantages are in efficiency, a dramatic reduction in luminaire size and an increase in colour temperature. At 3300K the pure white light ensures vibrant colour and dramatic highlights.  Advantages leading lighting designers such as David Hersey and major European Opera Houses have been quick to realise and exploit.

Introduced in pre production form at trade shows over the past year and after extensive proving in theatres around the world the Pacific Power System is now available.  As one of the many light sources available for the Pacific the 80v Power System mounts onto the universal lamp house to which any Pacific optical system can be attached.

  • Brighter, whiter light
  • 40 - 50% reduction in direct energy consumption along with a comparable saving in building air conditioning load
  • Compact sized luminaire
  • Full range of Pacific optical systems

For standard theatrical applications, the recommended lamp is:

  • CP110 1200w 80v (6980Z)
